Writing Workshop Beginners

Join playwright Guleraana Mir at this fun and open workshop, to discover ways of unlocking your creativity and developing your creative writing. The workshop will be for people of all abilities, with a particular focus on writing for the stage. Whether you have written something before, or want to find out how to start, this will be a fun and interactive workshop for all ages. Recommended for aged 16+, but young people with an adult will also be able to participate.

 

Guleraana Mir is a playwright, theatre practitioner and one half of The Thelmas, a female-led theatre company devoted to empowering women to redress the equality imbalance in the arts. She is passionate about creating diverse stories that are rooted in our modern society, and using her voice to explore what makes us human. Her debut play Coconut premiered at Ovalhouse, London in April followed by a national tour. It earned her an OFFIE nomination for most promising playwright. She regularly writes for community and youth groups and has worked with organisations such as Royal Exchange Theatre, AGE UK Westminster, Rightful Place Theatre and Peer Productions. She is currently co-leading a young writers' group at Southwark Playhouse and participating in the BBC's Northern Voices development program.
